Over the past nine years, I have actively engaged in designing, painting, fabricating,
installing, and leading both public and private art projects. My portfolio includes diverse
works such as murals in underpasses and retention walls, installation of ceramic tile mural
facades, and stained-glass mosaic murals. Additionally, I have contributed to public
beautification projects in cities across California, including Oakland, San Mateo, Antioch,
Hayward, and Colusa. Moreover, I have extended my artistic endeavors beyond the Bay
Area, undertaking projects in Colorado Springs.
Currently, I am engaged in an ongoing public art project for Shield Reid Community Center situated in
the City of Richmond, California. For this particular endeavor, I am creating four stained glass murals
that measure 7′ x 8′ along the front side of the building. As part of my community engagement strategy,
I am conducting workshops with eight children aged between 8 to 14 years. During these sessions, the
children are provided with pre-cut glass mosaics and design templates for coloring. They are actively
involved in mounting each glass piece on a designated board. Once the mosaic tiles are completed, they
will be assembled to form a larger mosaic artwork. The budget for the project is $110,000.00
Last year, in June 2023, I had the privilege of installing a remarkable set of two stained glass mosaic
murals along Beckers Lane Bridge in the beautiful city of Manitou Springs, Colorado. These murals span
an impressive length of 70 feet and stand 2 feet tall.
For this particular project, I developed three distinct illustrations that captured the essence of the
Manitou Springs community character. Through a thoughtful selection process, the community chose
the best representation among the three designs, which was subsequently transformed into the
stunning stained glass mosaic murals that now grace Beckers Lane Bridge.
The chosen design not only showcases the unique identity and spirit of Manitou Springs but also serves
as an artistic reflection of the community’s vibrant culture. It is an embodiment of the city’s rich heritage
and a celebration of its natural beauty. The budget for the project $ 40,000.00
In the City of San Mateo, I had the honor of receiving a commission from the Shriners local headquarters
to adorn the entrance of their building. In line with their preference for a long-lasting medium, we
decided on creating a ceramic tile mural. To bring this vision to life, I meticulously hand-painted and
fired 700 ceramic tiles in a kiln, ensuring durability and longevity.
The finished mural, measuring an impressive 30 feet in height and 16 feet in width, now stands as a
captivating centerpiece at the hospital’s entrance. This artwork serves not only as a welcoming sight for
patients, visitors, and staff but also as a source of inspiration and comfort to those who pass through its
doors.
By utilizing ceramic tiles, we achieved a timeless and enduring aesthetic that can withstand the test of
time and the elements. The intricate details and vibrant colors of the hand-painted tiles contribute to
the overall impact and beauty of the mural, creating a visually engaging experience for all who
encounter it. Budget for the entire project including an indoor mural was $80, 000.00
In 2019, I had the distinct honor of receiving Special Recognition by the California Senate in appreciation
of my exceptional dedication to advancing the arts. This acknowledgment serves as a testament to my
unwavering commitment to the artistic community and the enrichment of society through creative
endeavors.
One remarkable project that showcased my leadership and artistic prowess was the I-580 underpass
mural project for the City of Oakland. Leading a talented group of 15 professional artists and local high
school students, we collaboratively painted a captivating 220-inch by 15-foot acrylic mural on concrete.
The subject matter, developed by art and English teachers along with their students, revolved around
immigrant children as heroes combating crime in West Oakland. This mural not only transformed the I-
580 underpass but also conveyed a powerful message of community and empowerment. As artist leader
on the project, I wasn’t involved in the budget.
Similarly, the City of Hayward commissioned me for an ambitious large-scale mural project. I had the
sole responsibility of designing, creating, preparing the wall, and executing an impressive mural that
extended along an entire block, including the train underpass at Jackson Street and Soto Road. This
endeavor allowed me to showcase my vision and artistic prowess, resulting in a grand mural that
beautified the area and left a lasting impression.
Another testament to my ability to achieve project goals and themes is the Veterans Memorial Mural in
Antioch, California. I was commissioned to paint a mural that honored veterans in the United States
Armed Forces. With the aim of depicting the diversity within the various branches of the military, I
portrayed BIPOC individuals, women, and senior veterans on a large scale. The mural stands as a tribute
to the bravery and contributions of these veterans. The budget was $20,000.00
My extensive body of work attests to my qualifications and capacity to successfully deliver both public
and private projects. I remain committed to utilizing art as a means of uplifting communities and
enriching the human experience.
