Greg Olson is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist and fabricator whose work spans painting, metal, and wood. Born in Arizona and raised in Texas, I began my artistic path as a painter before serving in the U.S. Navy in 1994. After returning to art, my practice evolved during graduate school, where I shifted toward metal and wood materials that have defined my work ever since.
With a background that blends formal education and trade training, I brings a hands-on, process-driven approach to my work. My experience in welding and fabrication informs a practice that ranges from small-scale commissioned pieces such as wedding rings, belt buckles, and bolo ties to large-scale architectural and sculptural works, including a metal façade installation for an office building in San Antonio, Texas.
My work is rooted in both personal expression and social awareness, often exploring themes of resilience, craft, and transformation. Whether creating functional objects or large installations, I approach each piece with the same belief: that art is inseparable from lived experience and is, as I describe as, “engraved into the soul.”

I approach my work with an open mind. I either work with the customer through sketches to see how I can best serve them, or I just make things that make sense to me. I utilize all sorts of materials, but my true passion is metal and wood. For some pieces I like them to make a statement and most likely for a good cause.
