Cole McLaughlin Growing up, I knew I had an eye for detail and was mechanically inclined. In high school, I apprenticed at my grandfather’s machine shop, working with a wide variety of metal and learned how to use machines and various techniques to create parts or finished products.I later started working at the family business, a sheet metal manufacturing shop, where I took on a mixture of responsibilities, and was able to perfect my metalworking skills. Teaching myself how to weld, use precision instruments and hand tools. I began to incorporate my love for art and creating, into building unique art pieces both visual and functional, that people can purchase and enjoy. Using my metal skills to create original custom metal picture frames and art pieces for individual homes, businesses, interior designers and art establishments. This grew into my company, Revello Metal Craft, named after my Great Grandpa Charles Revello, who immigrated to the United States from Europe to live the American dream, when he was just 11 years old. Now, 15 years later, I now create metal art pieces and giant sculptures that bring imagination to life. My designs are based off what interests me and what the client is looking for, using new and repurposed materials. Public Art In 2012, I created a collection of 50 metal snowflake art sculptures—all unique in size, shape and design. Several art shows of this collection were hosted by several companies in L.A. O.C, Las Vegas and Mammoth Lakes. Individual larger pieces were likewise chosen for display as part of the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. Many of the pieces were sold and only a handful of the original 50 metal snowflake art pieces are available Following this, I began creating large scale sculptures for the public art arena. Two specific large scale sculptures were created as a part of a series titled RESIDENTS OF THE WORLD THROUGH HANDS. The first one “COMMUNITY UNITY”, displayed on the famous El Paseo Drive in Palm Desert in 2019. In 2018 I designed and created “Snow Is Gold” and “Mammoth Rocks” public art sculptures capturing the history, culture and community of the popular destination. Both sculptures are permanently installed at The Grocery Outlet building development by Best Properties in Mammoth Lakes, CA. Collections Metal Snow Series: An eclectic mix of 50 metal snowflakes hand created in various designs, shapes and sizes ranging from 2 ft to 7 ft in diameter. Approximately 65% of the art pieces were made of reclaimed remnant metal. Only a handful from the collection is still available.
